I just watched the first episode of When Calls the Heart and man does this look like it is going to be a great season!

I’ve been with the residents of Hope Valley since the very beginning and it was so much fun seeing them get a phone line in this episode. When Mayor Stanton picked up the phone for the first time, I felt like I was traveling back in time to that moment in history. Having the gentlemen from the phone company on the other end of the line was also fun. It made me wonder what it would have been like being on the other end when everyone was getting to experience the phone for the first time.

As always, it was fun reuniting with all of the characters I have come to know and love. Lee and Rosemary are some of my favorites. From Lee’s purple outfit to Rosemary’s meddling, these two always bring a smile to the face of my family. From the preview for this season, it looks like we will learn more about these two and get a deeper look into their lives.

Elizabeth is now a single mother who is trying to care for her new baby and keep her job as a school teacher. As is the custom in Hope Valley, the ladies in the town are there to help her by shifts to watch baby Jack while Elizabeth was teaching.

Despite the help she is receiving, Elizabeth doubted how well of a mother she was being. She shares her concern of instability with Mayor Stanton. Mayor Stanton made a comment to Elizabeth that mothers find what is best for their children and we see this come true later on in the episode.

There is definitely a lot going on this season and I can’t wait to watch the rest of the season and see what journey the characters will take us on.
