What happens when a film crew invades the Amish town of Pinecraft? There begins to be a struggle between lovers Joy Miller and Matthew Slagel.
Joy wants nothing more that to become a wife and mother. She is in love with Matthew, who is the bishop’s son and their relationship keeps going deeper.
Joy, in need of more money for medical bills, gets a job with the television crew. The Amish way of life does not permit them to own television sets and the community is not very comfortable with a film crew doing a television show on them.
As you can imagine, this puts Joy in a tough position in her community. She is in love with Matthew, but his father is the bishop. Joy needs money and the television crew need someone who knows the Amish way of life.
There is a lot that I loved about this book. First, I really enjoyed the story. I particularly enjoyed the concept of a television show in the community. I found this to be something different from the many Amish Fiction titles out there.
Second, I loved the struggle Joy faced as she befriended the Englischer production crew and felt God working in their lives through her. I found this not only a really cool aspect of the story, but something many people will be able to relate to in their own lives.
Third, I was really excited to see so many recipes included in this book. There were a number I wanted to try, particularly the lemon bars.
This book was a story of love, heartbreak, and hope and a story I truly enjoyed reading.
